The proven dropper post from Fox – now with up to 200 mm travel!
The Transfer seatpost from suspension specialist FOX has long been very popular. Virtually maintenance-free, reliable and easy to operate and assemble, it has been setting the “gold standard” for this US company’s range of dropper posts since its launch.
With technology identical to its big sister from the Factory series, the Transfer from the FOX Performance Elite series is an unassuming, black post ready for fun trail parties. Instead of the striking golden Kashima coating, the seat post has a high-quality black anodised surface to reduce friction. This might make it a little less striking, but just as fancy.
But lately, the Transfer has become somewhat outdated and could not always meet the increased demands of modern mountain bike frames with their normally short seat tubes. The insertion depth is too large and the stack height is too high, so the mountable adjustment travel is often too small.
That’s where the developers of the 2021 Transfer model started, going back to the foundations to redesign the elegant saddle post. They were able to considerably reduce the insertion depth across all travel variants and design a new prop head for a significantly lower stack height. So if you have only been able to fit a Transfer with 150 mm travel on your bike, you’ll now be able to easily go for the 175 mm travel version in most cases. In addition, FOX now also offers a maximum drop version of the Transfer with 200 mm of travel.
From a purely functional point of view, nothing has changed in the inner workings of the dropper post. Why would anything change? After all, the Transfer has always been a guarantee for reliability. The proven design has merely been adapted to more compact dimensions.
The hydraulic dropper post is controlled mechanically via a gear cable installed in the frame. But the real highlights have been hidden inside the Transfer since 2016. When operating the remote lever on the handlebar, a pressure-sensitive hydraulic valve opens, which lets you regulate the return speed of the adjustable seat post via the lever travel. Resulting in easy and precise saddle height adjustments at lighting speed. In addition, the valve makes sure the Transfer cannot be pulled apart so that no negative pressure can build up in the system. Therefore, lifting or hanging the bike by the saddle with the post extended is usually a safe thing to do. An additional pressure relief valve ensures smooth running and low lever force, even with high temperature fluctuations.
Tip:
As the FOX Transfer Factory dropper post is supplied WITHOUT a remote lever, you have two remote options: An under-bar version for singlespeed systems and left-hand mounting and an on-bar model for double/triple drivetrains.
The ergonomically improved singlespeed lever for the 2021 model can be found under prod. code 2302103.
