The ZIPP 858 NSW™ carbon rear wheel is designed for competitive riders who are basically looking for maximum performance – be it in triathlons, time trials or criterium races. Even visually, ZIPP leaves no doubt about the racing DNA of the handmade 85mm deep-section rims: The distinctive Sawtooth™ rim profile with HexFin™ ABLC dimple pattern combines excellent aerodynamic properties with superior crosswind stability, so you can stay in the drops longer and save massive amounts of watts.

The ZIPP Total System Efficiency (TSE™) design approach is now also being applied to the 858 model series, recognisable by the consistent focus on wider tyres and tubeless systems. With in inner rim width of 23mm and a modern hookless rim profile, the 858 NSW is optimised for 28mm wide tyres in model year 2023. ZIPP’s calculation here is: Reduced rolling resistance plus better vibration damping plus increased grip equals more speed. The hookless rim profile not only brings advantages in terms of cornering stability and aerodynamics, but is also reflected on the scales. The engineers from Indianapolis were able to save around 120 grams compared to the previous model. So finally, rims can be both lightweight and deep.

At the centre of the wheel, the Cognition V2 rear hub ensures permanently low-friction and reliable running. High-volume, self-aligning cartridge bearings promise high resistance even in tough continuous use, while the improved Axial Clutch™ technology makes the ratchet freehub system with 54 points of engagement particularly smooth-running and efficient. The flange geometry with 20 J-bend spokes endows the wheel with max torsional and lateral stiffness. All of these qualities will benefit you in a competition.
